This six movement suite is selected from a dance drama based
on the story of the Willow Pattern Plate.

Mr. Punch (an opera for children)

with desc. recorder, 2 perc, keyboard & strings.
The libretto is based on the traditional English puppet play first
written down in the 1860s with additional text by the composer.
There is much dramatic interest in the 2 Act story and many short,
melodic vocal solos. The original production was performed by
15 year olds.

Seabird Island opera in two acts (Libretto - Norman Newton)
6 singing roles, chorus (mute) of Warriors & Villagers.
2-0-1-1, 2-0-0-0, 3 perc, harp, piano (cel.), accordion
strings and tape.
This 2 Act full length chamber opera is based on a traditional
Tshimshian tale from Western British Columbia. It tells of a
spoilt princess's love affair and, later, conflict with an evil
wizard, leading to his ultimate demise. Commissioned for
the 1977 Guelph Spring Festival.
